Kural Porul and Following (குறள் பொருள் & பின்பற்றுதல்)
A traditional Tamil text called the Thirukkual, sometimes referred to as Kural. It is
composed of 1,330 small couplets, or kurals. It is of seven words each. Three books that
each contain aphoristic teachings on the topics of virtue (aram), riches (porul), and love
(inbam) make up the text. It is renowned for its universality and secular nature and is
regarded as one of the best works on ethics and morality ever written. Tradition has it that
Valluvar, whose full name is Thiruvalluvar, wrote it. The inscription has been variously
dated to between 300 BCE and the 5th century CE. According to historical traditions, it was
the last creation of the third Sangam.
