 MASS 

          MASS  (நிறை) –  It  is defined as

           The measure of the total  amount of matter in a body

           ஒன்றில் இருக்கும் மொத்த   பொருளின் அளவு

         (Mass is a fundamental measurement of how much matter an object contains)

           Formula of  Mass

           Mass ( நிறை ) = Volume (பரும அளவு) × Density (அடர்த்தி)                                                                (அடர்த்தி)

       

                     m = v ρ     ( ρ – is the Greek letter “rho” )

 

             Unit (அலகு ) of mass (m) - Kilogram (kg)

                           Unit of Volume (v) - m³

                           Unit of Density (ρ) - kg/ m³

                                                                      WEIGHT

          WEIGHT  (எடை) –  It  is defined as

       is a quantity representing the force exerted on a particle or object by an acceleration field. (particularly the gravitational field of the Earth at the surface)

    முடுக்கம் புலத்தால் ஒரு துகள் அல்லது பொருளின் மீது செலுத்தப்படும் விசையைக் குறிக்கும் அளவு. (குறிப்பாக மேற்பரப்பில் பூமியின் ஈர்ப்பு புலம்)

   ( Weight is a measurement of the gravitational force on an object )

          Formula of  Weight

Weight (எடை) =  Mass ( நிறை)  × the acceleration due to gravity

 ( புவியீர்ப்பு காரணமாக முடுக்கம் )

                            W  = m x g

where,

·       “W”  is the weight of the object in Newton

·       “m”  is the mass of the object in kg

·       “g”  is the acceleration due to gravity. On the earth, the value of g is 9.8 m/s².

 

Note:-

        Weight may vary depending upon the force of gravity experienced by the body.

Ex:-

On the Earth, the value of g is 9.8 m/s².

On the Moon, the value of g is 1.625 m/s².
